Even with strong planning, inclusive environments and supportive strategies in place, things don’t always go to plan in early childhood settings. Moments of distress, dysregulation or escalation are a natural part of working with young children; particularly autistic and neurodivergent children.
This workshop is designed to support Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) professionals to feel more confident, prepared and supported when challenging moments arise.
Rather than focusing on “fixing” behaviour, this session centres on understanding, responding and supporting children through difficult moments in a calm and respectful way.
What you’ll learn:
✔ Understanding why things may go wrong in early learning environments
✔ Recognising early signs of distress and dysregulation
✔ How to respond in the moment using supportive, trauma-informed strategies
✔ Supporting children (and yourself) after challenging situations
✔ Reflecting on what went wrong to inform future practice
This session is ideal for Early Childhood Educators, Room Leaders, Educational Leaders, Centre Directors and support staff who want practical guidance for real-world challenges.
