Description

What is Wayfinding?

Have you ever wondered who was behind all these projects?

“What is Wayfinding?” provides a holistic overview of the Wayfinding discipline. The presentation illustrates the elements of Wayfinding that combine to engage users with physical spaces. We work closely with architects, however we also work outside of these collaborative spaces. We work with a variety of clients across 10 sectors, all of whom have different requirements and expectations of our work. This presentation aims to show the fundamental processes, design thinking and Wayfinding strategy behind each of our different projects and the value that it brings to the built environment.

Learning Objectives |

  1. To show how Wayfinding is designed to activate spaces for users.
  2. To focus stimulate the audience’s thinking at the intersection of their practice and Wayfinding.
  3. To show the value that good Wayfinding adds to architectural design
  4. To draw attention to the loci of strategy, visual communication and form in the urban environment as the building blocks of Wayfinding. Furthermore, to emphasise that these elements are not dissimilar from those fundamental to architectural design.
  5. To show how Wayfinding in contexts unfamiliar to architects can have a significant impact on a physical space. Most architects will only be familiar with Wayfinding in the context of their work experiences, so showing them alternate and varying examples of Wayfinding will augment their perception and understanding of the discipline.

Guest Speaker | Despina Macris
