FREE TEACHER PRESENTATION

What is dyslexia? How can we support children at school?

A Learning Support Coordinator from Coffs Harbour who helped transform the way her school teaches early literacy to Stage 1 students is visiting Port Macquarie to share her experience and secrets behind their literacy success.

Sonja O’Connor of Bishop Druitt College has a Masters in Special Education and is an Associate Member of the Australian Dyslexia Association (AMADA). She has mentored teachers and delivered numerous PD presentations to help improve literacy outcomes for all children.

The strategies used at Bishop Druitt College have lifted literacy rates for all children not only those diagnosed with Dyslexia. This seminar will explore the key characteristics and common misconceptions of dyslexia and practical classroom strategies to support students who are struggling with reading, writing and spelling.

Classroom teachers, learning support teachers and educational professionals are invited to attend this informative event with Sonja O'Connor.
