What children say about fixing our food systems
Event Information
About this event
Children are calling for urgent action to transform their food systems.
Too many children around the world cannot access the diets they need to grow and thrive. Existing food systems are failing them and the effects of climate change are exacerbating these failures. Fix My Food brings together the insights of over 700 children and young people in 18 countries, with supporting data from UNICEF's U-Report poll. This important resource for national governments, NGOs and other organisations will help shape action to transform food systems to be more effective and sustainable, and to deliver on children’s rights.
With support from 18 UNICEF Country Offices, UNICEF and the Young and Resilient Research Centre at Western Sydney University consulted in depth with children and young people about food, food environments, and food practices. Additionally, a U-Report poll also gathered responses from more than 22000 children and young people across various countries. Based on this rich data, Fix My Food provides analysis of the insights shared by children around the world about their lived experiences and perspectives on food systems, and their ideas and recommendations about what they want families, communities, organisations, governments and young people themselves to do to rethink and rework food systems for the 21st century.
Please join us to celebrate the launch of the Fix My Food report and to hear about and discuss our key findings with young people.
