Event description

Description

Following the recent breakthrough of a blood test to identify Alzheimer's disease, two specialists - Dr Scott Ayton and Dr Yen Ying Lim - go toe to toe to convince you their theory will cure dementia.

Scott Ayton is a neurobiologist here at The Florey. His major research focus is on neurodegenerative diseases, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, and Huntington's diseases. Dr. Ayton's research encompasses basic laboratory techniques through to clinical research. He specialises in understanding the role of biological metals in health and diseases, and investigates metals as therapeutic targets for neurodegenerative disease.

Dr Yen Ying Lim is a lead investigator of the Healthy Brain Project (healthybrainproject.org.au) with Dr Rachel Buckley, and a research fellow here at The Florey. Dr Lim is primarily interested in understanding how genetic and lifestyle factors, independently or interactively, accelerate or protect against brain diseases, particularly dementia. Her work is supported by the NHMRC National Institute for Dementia Research (Australia), and the Alzheimer's Association (USA).

Join us for what promises to be a fascinating and eye-opening discussion with Dr Ayton and Dr Lim.
