Event description

Description

In recent times fast facts and fake news, politicians and the media appear to be reluctant to hear from experts. Public policy is not necessarily informed by facts and data and it seems that experts are perceived as troublesome and even dangerous. This lecture provides opportunity to hear from, and engage with, a leading thinker on education policy and practice.

Speaker:

Professor Helen Gunter (University of Manchester) is an international expert on educational policy and school leadership. She has an extensive publications record and regularly contributes to public debates on schools and the modernisation of education. Helen holds a number of fellowships and awards that recognise her outstanding commitment to education. Her most recent books include: Leadership and the Reform of Education (2012); Educational Leadership and Hannah Arendt (2014); An Intellectual History of School Leadership Practice and Research (2016); and Consultants and Consultancy: the Case of Education (2017, co-authored with Colin Mills).
