About Westernport Coast Guard
Westernport Coast Guard (VF4) are a Flotilla of the Australian Volunteer Coast Guard. The Australian Volunteer Coast Guard has been providing volunteer marine rescue services to the boating community for over 60 years. VF4 was one of the first Flotilla's in Victoria, and has called Hastings home for the best part of 50 Years.
Westernport Flotilla operate two vessels, a primary response vessel which is 9.4mts with 2 Suzuki 300hp Outboard Engines and a secondary response vessel which is 6.2mts with 2 Suzuki 100hp Outboard Engines towed by a Ford Ranger.
Fundraising is a key component to keeping the Flotilla running. We service our primary vessel approximately 8 times per year at a cost of $2,500 per service. Additional costs are incurred by general maintenance of search and rescue equipment including the tow vehicle and service/maintenance on our secondary vessel. We rely on public donation to keep our equipment in good working order.
Traditionally we have done can rattles on intersections to raise much needed funds but this year we have opted to try something different, giving us a chance to meet businesses and people in our local community and have a bit of fun while raising much needed funds.
Westernport Coast Guard operate 24hrs 7days a week, 365 days a year. In a marine emergency call 000 and ask for the Water Police.
