Event description
2021 Western Downs Regional Artists' Exhibition 'Living in the Anthropocene Epoch' proudly hosted by Lapunyah Art Gallery, Chinchilla.

About this event

This annual exhibition showcases the diverse talents of artists from the Western Downs and is collaboratively planned and presented by the major Galleries of the region.

The Anthropocene Epoch is an unofficial unit of geological time, used to describe the most recent period in earth’s history when human activity started to have a significant impact on the planet’s climate and ecosystem.

Artists were challenged to respond to how a person, image, object, or place captured their experience of environmental and cultural change. This narrative urges us to consider aspects of ‘Living in the Anthropocene Epoch’ as a narrative of hope and rejuvenation.

The exhibition demonstrates the unique experience of this time of change within the Western Downs and hopes to foster a collective desire for a culture care, respect, and positive action.
