Event description

Description

The Wellness and Life after Cancer (WALAC) program assists those who have finished active treatment, to make the change from clinical management to supported self-management.

International research shows there is a growing need to address the issues faced by cancer survivors coping with life transitioning from the completion of treatment through to emotional and physical recovery.

The two day facilitator training enables experienced LWCEP facilitators and health professionals working with cancer survivors, to confidently facilitate the program.

Training outcomes include:

  • Improved knowledge, understanding & awareness of the complexities of survivorship
  • Increased confidence in modifying group management and facilitation skills
  • Development and practice of skills that promote behaviour change and self - management by survivors
  • Co-facilitation of program topics in the training environment
  • Knowledge of program content and resources
  • Confidence in being able to facilitate the Wellness and Life after Cancer program
  • Program delivery planning for 2018

All facilitators have access to resources online and are supported by Cancer Council Victoria in program promotion and delivery in their workplace.

Lunch is provided
