Professionals from all primary and secondary schools as well as services for young people 8-14 in Yarra Ranges are invited to attend the ‘Wellbeing in the Middle Years’ Breakfast Forum. Participants will have an opportunity to explore the results of the 2017 Middle Years Development Instrument (MDI) survey in Yarra Ranges and to join in the planning and implementation of the Middle Years Strategic Action Plan 2017-2019.

The forum will cover:

  • Information and data analysis regarding the Middle Years Development Instrument (MDI) results, including what they mean for participating schools and in Yarra Ranges more broadly.

  • Middle years projects that are working in other localities and how these ideas could be adapted for use in Yarra Ranges

  • Discussion of evidence informed, achievable ideas that will enable participants to target resources and improve wellbeing outcomes for children and young people 8-14 years.

  • Opportunity to connect with a professional network of people with a focus on the middle years.

Facilitators:

Pam Muth — Executive Director of Research and Strategy, Social Research Centre

Pam Muth has worked in the health, education and human services sector for over 30 years . Throughout her career in the US, New Zealand and Australia Pam has been responsible for developing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating health and human service policy and programs on national, state and local levels.

Catherine Watkin Nolan—Project Manager AEDC, Department of Education and Training

Ms Watkin Nolan has overseen 3 cycles of Australian Early Development Census collection and implementation since inception in 2009. For more than 30 years Ms Watkin Nolan has been actively engaged in policy, research and practice which supports planning and delivery of service provision for children and families. Ms Nolan is a fellow at the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute.
