Katie is a long time meditator who practices in the buddhist tradition. Her classes are open minded and vary between yoga nidra, gently guided quiet sits and silent sits followed by a discussion. She encourages trust in one's own experience and facilitates practitioners in finding a method that suits them.
Personally, Katie practices a form of buddhist insight meditation called Recollective Awareness which is a little different from traditional mindful meditation in that it allows thought, memory and sensation into the practice rather than developing a one pointed focus. It invites one to let the experience be whatever it may be and can be very useful for people who feel they struggle with traditional meditation or feel they aren’t very good at it.
Katie Jay is also a certified hatha vinyasa yoga teacher and massage therapist. She brings ten years worth of anatomy experience to her classes and interprets traditional yogic teachings for modern bodies. She is passionate about rebalancing the nervous system and approaching all self-practices with love and kindness, using yoga as a tool to encourage development and awareness of one's self while creating stability and flexibility in the body.
