This webinar will be broken into three parts:

Part 1

1. Introduction to fascia.

2. Composition and properties of fascia

3. Superficial and Deep fascia.

4. Muscle physiology focusing on the relationship between muscle and fascia.

5. The functional relationship between the muscle and the fascia becoming the myofascia, as a contractile structure producing and transferring forces.

6. Typical types of injuries to the myofascia and their physiological response to injury.

7. Acute, sub-acute and chronic stages of the healing and remodelling process.

8. Restoring ideal length and movement back into the injured myofascial structure.

9. Corrective exercises and fascial mobilisation aiming to help restore ideal fascial mobility.

10. Q&A

Part 2

1. Revision of Part 1 & then Q&A in relation to the revision if required.

2. Common upper body musculoskeletal conditions presenting in clinic.

3. Assessment and treatment of these common upper body musculoskeletal conditions.

4. Static and dynamic fascial mobilisation therapy in the form of stretches to the associated myofascial lines/slings.

5. Corrective exercises for the myofascia in the form of progressive loading ranging from sustained loads to functional loads.

6. Q&A

Part 3

1. Revision of Part 2 & then Q&A in relation to the revision, if required.

2. Common lower body musculoskeletal conditions presenting in clinic.

3. Assessment and treatment of these common lower body musculoskeletal conditions.

4. Static and dynamic fascial mobilisation therapy in the form of stretches to the associated myofascial lines/slings.

Presenter

Rob Orr:

Rob Orr is a clinical myotherapist and a Credentialed McKenzie Therapist (one of only 170 in Australia). He specialises in acute and chronic musculoskeletal pain of the spine and the extremities, sciatica, musculoskeletal injuries related to sport and altered bio-mechanics, corrective exercises, functional stretching, and client education/self-management.

With over 15 years of experience in myotherapy and lecturing, Rob is currently working in a private practice and lecturing at Victoria University Polytechnic.

Rob is passionate about continuously updating his knowledge in the most current evidence-based research and strives to never stop learning. He is an enthusiastic participant of all forms of exercise including rugby, weight training, martial arts, Olympic lifting, swimming boxing and yoga.
