Description

Connect & Learn – New webinar series for AOD clinicians

This is the first of a series of 10 case-based webinars funded by DHHS, designed to support AOD clinicians throughout regional and metropolitan Victoria.

Webinars will be presented by experienced clinicians currently working in the AOD sector and facilitated by Turning Point.

Topic: The role of Clinical Neuropsychology in AOD settings

Working with cognitively impaired clients can be a significant challenge, particularly when access to assessment services and resources are limited. Cognitive difficulties may arise from a range of aetiologies including acquired brain injury, mental health, substance use, or neurodevelopmental weaknesses and can have a significant impact on treatment outcomes and recovery.

Using a case based approach this webinar will provide an overview of the role of neuropsychology in assessing, diagnosing and managing complex clients with AOD backgrounds.

Presenters:

Dr Catherine Cox is a Senior Clinical Neuropsychologist at Turning Point with extensive experience in paediatric and adult neuropsychology fields, including adult and paediatric neuro-rehabilitation and neurology, paediatric oncology and aged care.

Dr James Gooden is a Clinical Neuropsychologist based at the Turning Point neuropsychology service in Richmond, Victoria, which provides specialised neuropsychological assessments and associated recommendations and strategies to clients from the AOD sector.

Who should register? This webinar is suitable for workers in the AOD, mental health, allied health and welfare sectors.
