QLD Skills Hub and Skills Focus Queensland
Queensland small business owners, startups and their staff now have an unprecedented opportunity to access 500 select online courses, ranging from five minutes to a few hours, for FREE until December 2020.
The courses are grouped under key topics including:
• Foundation business skills
• Leading a successful business
• Connecting businesses and customers
• Digital skills and adapting to change.
Examples of courses available include – Introduction to Digital Marketing, Keys to set up a Remote Team, Build Resilience through Perseverance, How to Deal with Customer Complaints and Improve Your Business, Cyber Security Tips for Small Business, Top Retail Tips, The 4P’s of Marketing and Business Planning for Small Business.
A second portal, Skills Focus Queensland provides access for Queenslanders whose jobs have been impacted by COVID-19 with approximately 400 courses across topic areas such as CV Writing and Interview Preparation, Sales, Finance and IT.

About the Presenters
Vu Tran – Co-founder & Chief Evangelist
Vu Tran – As one of the four co-founders of Go1 and its Chief Evangelist, Vu’s responsibilities include engaging with key industry leaders and stakeholders across all sectors to share Go1’s experience in transforming workplace learning. This includes engagement with government sectors on working to leverage Go1’s experience, technology and course marketplace to address key social issues such as skills, employment and supporting industry and small business. Vu is also a highly regarded leader within Queensland’s emerging innovation economy. Vu successfully engaged the Qld Dept of Employment, Small Business and Training (DESBT) in June to support the roll out of a small number of short learning courses that GO1 host online and are highly relevant to Qld small business owners, their staff and Queenslanders who have had their employment impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic – the result is the creation of the two skills hubs that we will be introduced to today.
Dave Elson – Public Sector Lead – Go1
David has a background in the Public Sector working in senior roles in Treasury and Taxation in Queensland and Western Australia. During this time David created and ran two retail stores. Since leaving Government David has worked as a consultant in Latin America for SAP partners delivering taxation systems and then as the national public sector lead delivering Content Management Systems for Government. David now looks after the Public Sector in APAC for Go1.
Paul Russell – Small Business Lead – GO1
Paul is assisting GO1 with the regional roll-out of the two skills hubs. Paul may be known to several of you on this webinar. He retired out of the Queensland Government earlier this year after 17 years in various executive level roles in trade and investment attraction, industry development, digital economy and innovation (Advance Qld). Paul now operates his own business development and innovation support consulting business working with emerging tech companies. He is also a non-executive director on the board of Bionics Queensland.
