Hosted by Business Council of Co-operatives and Mutuals & Net Balance Research Institute

Presented by Les Hems

Director of Research and Development, Net Balance Research Institute

As communities and governments all over the world struggle with addressing some difficult social and economic problems, this webinar will explore the role of Public Service Mutuals (member-owned businesses delivering public services on behalf of government) as an alternative business model to privatisation.

The webinar provides an introduction to the Green Paper on Public Service Mutuals: The case for a third-way for delivering public services in Australia and provides a forum to learn about the key characteristics and benefits of Public Service Mutuals and why they are being considered by Government as a potential way to evolve the delivering of services such as disability services, aged care, affordable housing and education. The webinar will outline a range of strategies to grow Public Service Mutuals in Australia and the range of supports that will be required to nurture this growth.

The webinar is particularly relevant for individuals involved in strategy & policy development and program design from government, the not-for-profit sector and co-operative and mutual sectors who are looking at financially and socially viable approaches to meeting unmet market needs and providing customer directed services cost effectively.

The webinar will encourage participants to raise issues and ask questionswhich will help to inform the key findings of the research and the recommendations provided to all stakeholders, including Government, on how to establish a viable Public Service Mutual sector in Australia. Participants can also provide feedback through our online consultation survey.

Registrants will be provided with a participation link prior to the webinar, so we request that you please supply a valid email address.
