About this Event

Evidence-informed practice: Identifying quality research

All health practitioners are expected to use the best available evidence to inform their clinical practice. However, the volume of literature that is published each year can be overwhelming.

In 2015, over 28000 English-language journals were in existence, publishing 2.5 million articles. About 15000 of these journal published health-related articles. Practitioners need ways to efficiently locate relevant literature and to decide if it’s worth reading.

In this webinar, we will discuss:

1. What quality means in research :

o The evidence hierarchy

o Peer review

o Open access publishing

2. Tips for quickly finding relevant literature:

o Google/Google Scholar

o Databases for practitioners

3. Tips for quickly deciding if the paper is worth reading and applying in clinical practice:

o Quality checklists

4. Easy ways to keep up to date
