About this event

Would you have enjoyed or wanted a whole lecture on collagen as an undergrad student?

One where physiology, biochemistry, nutrition and pathophysiology and clinical insights were all applied the most abundant protein in the human body?

In 2021, ATMS is bringing you this lecture. Collagen is not only a structural protein. Collagen 2021 will present more advanced concepts on collagen biochemistry and physiology than those taught at the undergraduate level.

Tissue distributions of collagen indicate that its actions are incredibly diversified beyond the ‘typical’ role we know so well in skin health. Areas of clinical and academic interest include collagen and cardiovascular pathophysiology, plus collagen and the entire breadth of our 5 connective tissue structures.

Tropocollagens and procollagen biochemistry will be reviewed. Biosynthetic pathways for collagen synthesis will be covered in depth, with clear links to nutritional biochemisty and our genome.

Clear clinical insights regarding assessments (physical exam, pathological assessments, supplemental formulations, food quality issues) will be discussed. In recent years, new research on collagen has been accumulating in the literature; this webinar will focus on bringing practitioners completely up to date on collagen biochemistry, clinical nutrition and pathophysiology.
