Justin has oversight of Comcare’s inspectorate function, regulatory policy, WHS audits, WHS authorisations, regulatory intelligence and regulatory education and stakeholder engagement.

Meredith Bryant

Branch Manager, Evidence and Strategic Policy, Safe Work Australia

Meredith leads Safe Work Australia’s work health and safety and workers’ compensation data and research function and has responsibility for the implementation for COVID-19 projects.

Comcare is established under the Safety Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 1988 (SRC Act).

Comcare has functions and responsibilities under the SRC Act, the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (WHS Act) and the Asbestos-related Claims (Management of Commonwealth Liabilities) Act 2005 (ARC Act). Under this legislation we have roles as insurer, regulator and scheme manager.

We provide expert advice and services to the Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation Commission (SRCC) and the Seacare Authority, and we manage the Commonwealth's asbestos-related claims liabilities.

Through our role, we work with employees and other workers, employers, service providers and other organisations to:

  • minimising the impact of harm in the workplace
  • improve recovery at work and return to work
  • promote the health benefits of good work.
