Weapons Defence Workshop (Impact Weapons)
Overview
Introduction to Weapons Defence (Impact Weapons)
Proudly brought to you by Coach Chung Yew Wai at Combat Martial Arts, and presented by Kacey Chong at Filipino Fighting Arts Academy
In this essential self-defence session, you’ll be introduced to the core principles of defending against an impact weapon, such as a stick, bat or pole.
This Weapons Defence Workshop will explore defensive skills against an impact weapon - a practical introduction to surviving and escaping a life-threatening encounter, with an emphasis on function over flash.
What you will learn at this Workshop:
✅ The realities of impact weapon attacks: psychology, patterns, and misconceptions
✅ Tactics for shielding and countering against impact weapon attacks
✅ Skills for redirecting, controlling, and escaping from impact weapon threats
✅ The use of improvised tools to defend against an impact weapon attack
✅ Scenario-based drills to build skills and improve response times
Who the Workshop is for:
This Workshop is suitable for beginners, martial artists, and martial arts instructors, who are interested in personal protection, concerned about weapons attacks, and are keen to integrate weapons into their existing skillset in a fun, friendly and safe training environment.
As this is a serious topic involving potentially life-threatening situations, we approach the material with respect and clarity - but we’ll also keep most of the session light-hearted and engaging. Our goal is to create a balanced, positive training environment that supports focused learning while keeping things enjoyable and accessible for everyone.
No prior experience required - just a willingness to learn!
This event is open to Members of Combat Martial Arts, Martial Arts Friends and General Public.
