We’ll chat together, meet new faces, commiserate over a really rough year, and celebrate our continued struggle for a better world.
Women workers have already borne the brunt of the government’s response to covid, more than any recession before. For many the future is dominated by anxiety about job insecurity. The crisis has worsened class, racial and gender inequalities.
We have something the elite and powerful don’t though. We have each other, and the knowledge that through collective action we can bring forth a better world. As union members we demand an end to gendered discrimination, parental leave and equal pay. But we also demand much more.
We’ll listen to the song “Bread and Roses”, which has inspired generations of women workers who fight not only for the basic necessities, but demand our right to flourish and live full and rich lives in comfort.
Please stay home if unwell or if you’ve been in contact with a covid-positive person. Covid-19 safety precautions will be adhered to. Keep an eye on the event for wet weather plan.
