Event Details

AACA Competency: Design

Knowledge Domain: Communication

Ever wondered who's the mastermind behind all of these signs:

Sydney 2000 Olympic Games?

The signs around the campus at UQ?

The signs you see at the Ekka?

 Guest Speakers: Despina Macris

At Dotdash, Despina Macris works with a team of designers and architects to deliver Wayfinding Strategies and Visual Communication for the built environment such as the projects you see above.

She leads the visual communication aspect of Wayfinding. Nothing makes Despina happier than a simple beautiful piece of work that effortlessly communicates a message, whether it be a stand alone public work or woven into a complex built environment. Want to know who Dotdash are? Click here!

What is Wayfinding and why is it important?

Wayfinding punctuates dense or sparse built environments.

Picture it as a binding thread that runs through the fabric of an urban environment connecting people to place.

Transport systems, healthcare environments, education campuses, corporate buildings, parklands and major events can be confusing spaces.

Wayfinding considers users needs and allows them to access and utilise spaces to their full potential.
Wayfinding is recognised as playing a vital role in connecting people to place and its integration influences the broader functionality of the urban environment.

Come along to this exclusive evening with DotDash and understand how and why people find their way. Contribute to designing built environments that assist users to navigate the complexities of our ever progressing world.

SONA, EmAGN and Non- Members Welcome. Light refreshments and beverages will be served.
