Event description
Much more than a 'poo farm'

About this Event

The Western Treatment Plant is a place of historic and cultural significance. It sustainably treats half of Melbourne’s sewage, and is a thriving ecosystem with an internationally recognised bird habitat. Take a guided tour and discover why the Western Treatment Plant is much more than a ‘poo farm’.

Tours will depart from the Western Treatment Plant Discovery Centre. This is a bus tour, there will not be any breaks during the 120 min tour.

This is an operations plant, there is safety information that must be followed. All participants must wear long pants, long sleeves and closed-toe shoes.

The minimum permitted visitor age is 11 years old.

Presented by Melbourne Water and Open House Melbourne as part of Waterfront for Melbourne Design Week 2020, an initiative of the Victorian Government in collaboration with the NGV.
