Be creative and paint dynamic watercolour assasin bugs and bright thistles with Heather Delaney.

Award-winning watercolour artist Heather Delaney will be tutoring a one day watercolour workshop focusing on bugs thistles. This event is hosted by Beachmere Art Society inc. In this beginning to intermediate class, you can expect to learn the following


- How to make light spots and lens flares.

- Interesting techniques to create watercolour texture.

- How to use masking fluid for special effects.

- How to paint fine watercolour lines.

- Use linework to express detail of your watercolour.

- Add personal creative flair to your watercolour piece.

- Merge expressive watercolour technique with perspective drawing.

- Learn how to use your palette to create a professional painting.


Heather Delaney is a talented, expressive watercolour artist. She is the winner of the Fabriano in Acquarello 2020 and a category winner for the Brisbane Macgregor Lions Art Extravaganza 2019. Her studio is based in Scarborough, QLD and her art is inspired by the Australian landscape.


This course is catered to beginners and intermediate students, so student grade and professional grade kits can be used. Bring with you.


- Your usual watercolour kit and a mixing pallette or plate.

- A range of small and large brushes.

- A3 size or similar watercolour paper. Smooth is best for this work.

- Board to accommodate sheet

- Notebook and pencil (for notes and drawings)

- Masking tape 1/2 inch plain (will also be available in class)

- Masking fluid (will also be available in class)

- Tissues, old towel, washer and/or sponge

- 2 containers for water

- Object for leaning artwork at 45 degrees

- A packed lunch. Cafes are open until 12pm.


If you are a true beginner and don't have paints we have watercolour palletts that you can borrow and try for the day. Beginner paints, brushes and paper can also be purchased at the workshop if needed. Beachmere Art Society is a community collective that organises low cost and free events for our local community.
