Event description
Join us for free training session on how to use the Waterbug Blitz App and how to run a Waterbug Blitz at your local rivulet.

About this Event

Our local rivulets are valuable habitats that ultimately flow into the Derwent estuary. We are therefore interested in collecting data to help understand the water quality of our rivulets. The National Waterbug Blitz is Australia’s first nationwide, citizen science, waterway monitoring event, and it’s coming to our rivulets!

We are offering a Training Workshop for volunteers and professionals alike to learn how to collect and identify waterbugs, plus how use the Waterbug App. Then, you’ll have all the skills you need to do you own Waterbug Blitz at your local freshwater waterway!

Participants are to please bring along on the day:

- Food & water/drinks for the day for yourself

- Hat, sunscreen, insect repellent – you will be working outdoors!!!

- Gumboots or waders

- Your smart phone with The Waterbug App downloaded to it – Google Play or iTunes App Store

The workshop will be held by John Gooderham.
