Description

Join members of the Popes Glen Bushcare group to explore their Upper Blue Mountains site and learn about the 12 years of work to transform a weedy, willow-infested creekline, subject to urban stormwater pressures, into a functioning wetland ecosystem.

Meet: At the entrance to the Blackheath Caravan Park (Blackheath Glen Tourist Park), at the bottom (north end) of Prince Edward Street.If you're late, walk into the caravan park, follow the road to the left along the creek and look for us at the BBQ shelter on the right.

Directions:

By car from Sydney, turn right at the Blackheath traffic lights into Govetts Leap Rd, take 3rd left (Prince Edward Street) and drive to the bottom of the hill. Duck pond on left, caravan park on right. Park on either side of the road.

By train: Departs Central 6.52 am to arrive Blackheath 8.33 am; or departs Central 7.23 am arrives Blackheath 9.35 am. 20 minutes walk to meeting place.

Wear: Covered shoes and long-sleeved shirt and long pants. Gum boots are highly recommended as site is largely a wetland. Bring hat and sun protection.

Bring: Morning tea and lunch, if you would like to have lunch on site at end of the field trip.
