Join Brisbane based jewellery designer Barbara Vine for a hands on introduction to making your own necklace using a washi paper covered shell medallion, set into a metal frame, complete with long metal chain ready to wear. Barbara will show you how to apply and lacquer the paper on the shell base and how to assemble it into the frame. A kit will be provided as well as instructions, glue, and lacquer to use during the class. There will be a choice of Japanese papers as well as a choice of bright silver, antique copper, or gunmetal frame and chain.
Please bring a notebook and pen, a small takeaway food container to transport your necklace home to ensure the set of the lacquer. Please be aware that you will be working with sandpaper, glue, and lacquer. Details of suppliers of materials will be made available on the night, and some additional kids will be available for purchase. Barbara's washi paper based jewellery, under the label "Uniquely Yours" is available for sale in the Library Shop on the night.
