Event description

Description

For existing Intrepid Landcare volunteers only (what does this mean? You have to have done a project with us already to come on this adventure. Soz. It's a reward thing)

Come on an epic state-wide adventure taking you on a three dimensional solar system tour out to the wild Warrumbungles.

It will be at the height of the meteor showers, so what better place to be than away from the city, away from the lights, surrounded by mountains, great company and expansive scenery!

We have teamed up with some bloody awesome scientists to do a weekend of survey work looking at hollow habitat and species diversity in a section of the National Park which was impacted by the major fires which went through a few years ago. This data will help inform threatened species recovery programs and future works at the park.

How it will go down:

Friday - At your own pace, meander to the site following the planet trail. Depending on where you are traveling from, you will be able to access the trail from a few different angles across the state. Check it out!

Friday night - Optional tour at the observatory $25 pp + camping under the stars! Starts at 8.15 pm. Bookings a must. Let us know if you are keen message Megan 0412532817

Saturday - Full day of field work

Saturday night - Spotlighting and BBQ Camp in camp ground

Sunday - Free day to take on a full day hike (half day options are available for those needing to leave on the Sunday, you make the call that is right for you)

Monday - Drive home

Other important stuff

This is a first in first serve basis. The awesome dudes at Illawarra Intrepid Landcare have worked hard to put this project together.

There may be some costs associated with food and camping. We'll get back to you on this ASAP.

All details will be confirmed closer to the date.

Car pooling is encouraged, this will be your own responsibility to arrange.

This is an 18+ event only.

All optional extra hiking activities outside of the volunteer work are at your own risk, it will be your responsibility to arrange adequate water, food and your own hiking gear to take on any designated hikes in the park.

Only register for this event if you are serious about coming, a lot of work goes into putting projects together and it is always disappointing when people drop out at the last minute (obvs if it's serious we get that) where others could have come along. Basically don't be flakey. It's not cool ;)
