Description

Join Derek Oram Sandy from Yerongpan Aboriginal Dancers as he walks through country.

Calling out to the ancestors and totem animal spirits. Sending out didgeridoo vibrations to let the country feel his presence. Looking out for traditional bush medicines and explaining the medicinal uses. Acknowledging the local animals and their habitat. Explaining how Indigenous people care for and look after the land, including the importance of burn offs to prevent flooding. Pointing out the native trees used for clap sticks, didgeridoos, baskets and weaving. Gather your friends and family to come and learn about the first Australian’s connection to Mother Earth and deepen your understanding and connection to Eagleby Wetlands. This walk aims to inspire all Australian's to care for this ancient Country.
