Event description

Description

Due to it's popularity last year, this event is being run over two days, Saturday the 5th May and Sunday the 6th May 2018.

Join David Ritchie for a four-hour guided walk in the Alpine National Park. The 6km return hike starts at 8 Mile Flat and follows the Howqua River to Ritchie’s Hut, originally built as a fisherman’s hut for Bob Ritchie (David’s grandad) in the 1950s.

Hiking through the narrow river valley and bush, steal glimpses of Mt Buller’s ski runs and be rewarded with a bird’s eye view of the pristine Howqua River - plus freshly made scones and billy tea! Back at 8 Mile Flat, cool your heels by the river over a barbecue lunch of local Howes Creek Farm sausages and gourmet salads, washed down with a glass or two of Delatite wine.

This hike requires a reasonable level of fitness and agility as there may be low river crossings on the track. In the event of wet weather, the event will be relocated to Delatite Wines for a behind-the-scenes wine experience with morning tea and lunch.
