Description

Leah is a Palawa woman from Tasmania, is the current recipient of the Attorney General’s Indigenous Legal Practitioner of the Year Award and the owner of Marrawah Law, Queensland’s only Supply Nation certified Indigenous legal practice. Leah’s business employs over 75% Indigenous staff.

Leah is a regular contributor to the National Talk Black radio program presenting on topical legal issues. The passion Leah has for her work is unwavering and has assisted her in achieving six native title determinations to date. Leah’s efforts were recognised in 2016 and 2017 when chosen as a finalist in the Cairns Business Women’s Club Awards and AIM Leadership Awards. Other accolades include Tasmanian Young Achiever of the Year Award in the category of Trade and Career Achievement (2008) and the Centenary Medal of Australia. Her greatest honour was negotiating and repatriating her ancestors’ remains from the British Museum in London on behalf of her community.
