Event Details

What is a recovery plan? Who prepares it? Who implements it? How is the community involved?

These questions and more will all be answered during the 2019 WA Threatened Species Forum.

This will be the third time the Forum will be held in Geraldton, and NACC NRM and partner Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions look forward to seeing attendance from a cross-section of society with a common concern for WA’s animals and plants.

Being held on 5-6 September 2019 the forum will:

- Assess the current conservation status and stage of recovery plan implementation of selected Western Australian threatened species and threatened ecological communities.

-Determine what more needs to be known about these threatened species (e.g., distribution, reproductive biology, ecology, and taxonomy) to inform recovery plan implementation or development.

-Review the status of relevant key threatening processes to better understand the range of recovery risks; and further develop the necessary collaborative approach to threat management

-Investigate the role of community and citizen science in recovery plan development and implementation.

The WA Threatened Species Forum will provide an opportunity to inform attendees on the priorities of current national, state and regional threatened species strategies; and an opportunity for attendees to share information on activities and interventions, science and solutions for protecting and recovering Western Australia’s threatened plants and animals.
