‘Developing Western Australian Space Industry Cluster’
Western Australia is well positioned to play a key role in the Space Industry. Recently, our close collaborator Senator Linda Reynolds wrote that with the creation of an Australian Space Agency, space is set to be the next frontier for jobs in WA. Few Western Australians already know that our state is already home to globally significant civilian and defence space research and exploration facilities, also that it will soon co-host the world's most powerful radio-telescope, the Square Kilometre Array. These facilities, together with our existing space industry expertise, space researchers and industry partnership with NASA and European Space Agencies mean that WA is well placed to become an internationally signficant contributor to the global space industry.
It is great to see bi-partisan approach at both Federal and State level working together with industry leaders to push for a new space agency hub to be built in WA, which could provide thousands more jobs in Perth and regional WA. Uniting WA Space Industry in an innovation cluster could go a long way towards reaching that goal. It is up to all of us to make 2018 a successful year for WA Space.
Let’s make WA a true STATE OF INNOVATION!
