Maccabi LIFE Health and Wellness Expo - 2019

Your ticket to a healthy and happy LIFE!


The WA Maccabi LIFE Health & Wellness Expo will bring together leading professionals, a keynote speaker, a movie night followed by a topical debate, all part of an informative and fun day-out that will get you thinking about your's and your family's health and wellbeing.


The Expo kicks off on Sunday November 17th at 9.00am with a “Walk and Talk” event. The walk will start from the Maccabi Grounds, 61 Woodrow Avenue, walking 2.5km around Yokine Reserve and finsihing back where we started. The Epo then continues with a informative talk by Our keynote speaker, Clinical Psychologist and leading world expert on Emotion Focused Therapy, Dr Jason Sharbanee.


Jason will explain how in emotion-focused therapy theory, emotions are seen as a primary source of adaptive information that can help orientate to what is important. The talk will introduce some basic principals in how to think about and respond to emotions, both your own and those of your family and friends, in order to maximise your own sense of well being and to strengthen your relationships.The talk will be followed by Q and A session and morning tea.

The Expo starts up again later that evening at 7.30pm in the Sylvia and Harry Hoffman Hall at Carmel School with a special Family evening which includes a screening of the world renowned documentary SCREENAGERS-The next chapter - followed by a community panel debate - Topic: Hacking Digital Dependence- How screen time is impacting wellbeing and how to take back control.


From the director of SCREENAGERS: Growing Up in the Digital Age comes -Screenagers NEXT CHAPTER: Uncovering Skills for Stress Resilience and helping young people thrive in our screen and stress-filled world. Filmmaker and physician Delaney Ruston uses a personal lens and professional eye to help us all flip the script on stress, anxiety, and depression. We follow Delaney as she finds herself at a loss on how to help her own teens as they struggle with their emotional wellbeing.


Hosted by Jordan Foster BA Hon, MPsyc (Clinical) Clinical Psychologist | Managing Director ySafe social media and Cyber Safety experts. Jordan will comment on the movie and start the conversation on Fortnite and discuss some of the ways in which developers design their games to promote player engagement . She will then host a debate panel of students vs adults on the topic “ If we removed technology right now, would the lives and wellbeing of young people be positively or negatively impacted? “
