Volunteer Opportunity - Southern Moreton Bay - Hardcore Cleaning Team
Event Information
About this Event
Do you want to make a difference, well our hardcore team is always looking for extra hands.
NB: You must book a ticket through Eventbrite to attend this event.
Courtesy of a Grant, through Stuart Robert MP, from the Federal Government's Communities Environment Program, we will be spending 15 days cleaning the Southern Moreton Bay Islands. Cruise along and fill our 7m Landing Barge with rubbish strewn throughout across the islands. Yes that is what we are dealing with. Tonnes of debris washed in over decades. The more hands we have the quicker we can clean this out.
This opportunity is NOT FOR CHILDREN.
We need hardcore crew. You're feet will get wet, we play in the mangroves in mud and fight mosquitoes all day. If it isn't the mosquitoes then the sand flies will get you. Thankfully we are sponsored by Bushmans.
You need to wear clothes that cover you from top to tail. They will get wet and muddy. Shoes need to be solid but suitable for getting wet. Gumboots are ideal.
The work involves picking up rubbish, often half buried or under trees. Some of the debris is small, others are large. With 4 people of varying size we can usually handle anything. Sometimes that involves chainsaws and shovels.
Have I painted an amazing pictures yet? Yes this is not 'your' every day clean up, this is an Ocean Crusaders Clean Up. This is reality and we are seeking hard core volunteers to join us for a day or two here and there.
There are only 5 spots available on the boat each day so we can keep social distancing. You need to contact Ian on 0412 932 808 to confirm you are coming.
We will be leaving from the Jacob's Well Boat Ramp at 0800. We usually return to the ramp by 1400.
