A project of passion, dedication and community spirit – Ondru and all its supporters are delighted to invite you to the launch of the Voiceless Journeys Book.
Voiceless Journeys is a collection of 101 stories of displacement and survival in the 21st century. With Voiceless Journeys, Ondru portrays the human face of the journey – the struggles, survivals and achievements of people from diverse backgrounds. Through evocative black and white portraits, stories are told of people who have left the place they call home to rebuild their lives in our communities.
In the beginning, large-scale installations of these images throughout Melbourne brought life to this project. Now, Ondru invites you to celebrate the launch of the Voiceless Journeys book. This timeless piece of art and storytelling aims to represent and give voice to the millions of people who experience these journeys through intimate portraits. Joining us at the launch will be cultural manager Ann Tonks and social justice activist Tasneem Chopra.
Meet the faces of Voiceless Journeys. Experience the courage and strength of the human character. Share the stories of those whose voices have been silenced.
Our heartfelt thanks to our supporters who have purchased a copy of the Voiceless Journeys book through our Pozible crowdfunding campaign. We are delighted to be granting you your copy at the launch.
You can support Ondru by purchasing the Voiceless Journeys book for $50 at the launch. All revenue will support future art projects by Ondru exploring issues of the human condition such as autism and homelessness.
Join us for an evening of live music, inspiring talks and powerful portraiture.
