About this Event

Bookings include four unique exhibitions

Blockbuster: Sidney Nolan's Ned Kelly series. Cairns Art Gallery is the exclusive Queensland venue for this iconic series of works, on loan from the National Gallery of Australia

Local flavour: Tropical Tropes brings together works by six artists who are represented in the Gallery’s Permanent Collection. Together their works explore narratives around the theme of life in the tropics, and specifically address how the complex environment of the tropics can shape lives and inform perceptions of identity and belonging.

International Film series: Question Bridge is a compelling video created by four American black male artists. Chris Johnson, Kamal Sinclair, Bayeté Ross Smith and Hank Willis Thomas collaborated to produce a powerful filmic work that reveals intimate and rarely documented conversations between black men living in contemporary America.

Collection in focus: SHIFTING THE NARRATIVE: ALTERNATIVE HISTORIES addresses the increasing global compulsion to revisit histories with an aim to explore the differing viewpoints that can be called truth.
