Event description

Description

Step into Apollo Bay's oldest venue 'The Mech' for a night of kaleidoscopic visions and mind altering reverberation with a curation of some of Melbourne's finest psychedelic face-melters and shoegazers lead by Flyying Colours and featuring The Black Heart Death Cult.

The night will be filled with vintage light projection from Electric Light Brigade. The Black Heart Death Cult push out droney psych mantras, sonic opiates and space glazed kaleido fuzz jams for the all too new dark age.

Emerging from Australia’s vibrant shoegaze scene, Melbourne’s Flyying Colours arrive at a sound that
combines My Bloody Valentine’s wall-of-sound guitars and barely there girl/boy vocals with sundrenched melodies.
Built around the guitars and vocals of Brodie J Brümmer and Gemma O'Connor, the band released its first
single, "Wavygravy," before issuing a self-titled EP in November of 2013. Which was then backed up by
their explosive live shows, setting them well apart from others occupying Melbourne's shoegaze scene. A
follow-up, ROYGBIV is a snapshot of a band reaching for the heavens and finding themselves reflected in
at all over the cosmos: a sign of greater things to come.
The psych-shoegazers debut full-length, “Mindfullness” which was released in September of 2016 also
received overwhelming attention through their spectacular sold-out live shows locally as well as in the
UK and Europe; including appearances at The Great Escape (UK), Primavera Sound (Spain), London
Calling (Amsterdam) & Laneway (Australia) Festivals. On home soil the band have toured with the likes
of Johnny Marr, Brian Jonestown Massacre, A Place to Bury Strangers and more
.

Sparkly magic mountain-drops fall from the outer cosmic reaches in the re-imagined mind-forest of The Flower Captain. From the gloom/doom of the all too sudden ending of The Grand Rapids singer/songwriter Sasha L Smith envisions a brave new dark age of droney bliss in the sonic bazaar.

Fret wizard Bill Patching, sub-sonic vibe dealer Deon Slaviero, human time-machine Andy Nunns, keys/tambo Gabby Potochnik & guitar/flute Nick Hastings are well on the magic bus which we call “The Black Heart Death Cult”. Electric Light Brigade Electric Light Brigade uses analogue lighting equipment and techniques to activate spaces and enhance dynamic atmospheres.
