About this Event
Sunday March 29th, 1-4pm
Visible Mending inspired by Sashiko stitching.
Give your old jeans a new life and a new look in this fun 3 hour workshop with our Visible Mending guru Lucy.
In this workshop you will learn a brief history of Sashiko and it's importance to the Slow Fashion movement (not buying new mass produced fashion, instead buying preloved and mending what we have).
You will also practice sewing a Sashiko design, learn to slow stitch and how to mend your favourite pair of jeans using Sashiko for functional strength and beauty. Slow stitching is such a rewarding and relaxing experience, you will love this workshop!
Denim will be the focus but the techniques you learn can be used when mending other fabrics at home.
As your spot will be reserved and numbers are limited, there can be no refunds.
Class is suitable for over 16 years. Beginners and beyond.

About your instructor
Lucy is a creative and busy mother of three young boys and runs her own face painting business “Willo the Wisp” . Lucy has always been interested in sustainability and when she came upon Sashiko, a Japanese mending technique to mend her own jeans, it soon took over as a little bit of an obsession! Lucy mends jeans using the visible mending technique to repair old jeans or op shop jeans and she can turn any old jean into a work of art.
