Video Game Design Holiday Camp 1
Event Information
About this event
Did you know that ⅔ Australians play video games? That’s because video games are an incredibly powerful medium for stories and experiences. In this holiday camp we will be forming teams and making video games together, from the music, to the art and of course, the programming and design of the game.
We will be covering:
Development/programming
- Learn to use popular, free game engine Unity
Game Art
- Learn to use popular and free game art software like Blender (3D art) or draw pixel art (2D art)
Game Music
- Learn to make basic game music and import it into your game
What you need to bring
This is a hands-on event! That means you will be ACTIVELY using the programs and tools. You will need a laptop which can run software such as Unity, and have it installed before the workshop begins.
A full list of the required software will be emailed to you before the event. All software is free and can run on most laptops.
If you do not have an appropriate laptop, please let us know so we can arrange one for loan.
We will provide snacks and lunch but if you want to bring your own, there is a fridge to store food on site.
Who is this for?
Anyone who enjoys playing video games and wants to learn more about how to make them! Our minimum recommended age is 15 years old, however we also have some slightly younger students who are particularly keen and show some experience with game design. Please reach out if you want to know if this program is appropriate for you or your child.
Because we are focussing on a specific game style, even if you have attended previous experiences with us, you will still learn something new in this holiday program.
Cost
Tickets are $200 which includes:
- 2 days of video game design instruction with industry experts
- Uploading a finished game for others to play
- Snacks and Lunch
