Event Details

The Victorian Budget is the major determinant of ICT spending by agencies, and 2017-18 is no different. But with over $100 million allocated to judicial technology projects and several Whole-of-Government initiatives in the pipeline, 2017-18 is shaping up as a particularly exciting year for ICT.

After allocating $81 million to its Whole-of-Government digital service agency Service Victoria in 2016-17, the government has set its sights on cybersecurity, the Internet of Things, and improved information sharing through initiatives like the Victorian Centre for Data Insights.

The release of the Victorian Government Cyber Security Strategy later this year could also see further investment in cybersecurity, including the development of a Security Operations Centre.

But, securing this business has also become harder. Agile procurement mechanisms such as the Federal Government’s Digital Marketplace have introduced fresh competition to compete with well-established players, and projects are no longer ‘waterfall’ by nature.

Irrespective of whether you are in government or industry, understanding how to navigate the implications of the 2017-18 budget and the above trigger factors will be imperative for strategic positioning.

Intermedium’s Breakfast Briefing will give you the necessary background to respond to this changing market in the face of:

  • Continuing fiscal constraints and getting the most out of Business as usual funding;

  • The evolving supplier ecosystem;

  • Reality versus hype in agencies’ technologies of choice; and

  • The impact of public sector reforms, including procurement and changing governance arrangements.

In addition to addressing these key issues, this briefing will provide networking opportunities for government and industry.

Invest a small amount of your time to breakfast with your peers, network with your business partners, and prepare for 2017-18 and beyond.
