Event description

Description

It’s North v South as crews from the North take on the South in the annual University of Tasmania Vice-Chancellor's Challenge rowing Eights race.

To be held over five gruelling kilometres, the Men will compete for the Vice-Chancellor’s Cup while the Women battle it out for the Vice-Chancellor’s Plate.

This year, for the first time, the event will feature a School Boys race featuring crews from Scotch Oakburn College and Launceston Church Grammar School taking on their southern rivals the Hutchins School.

Racing will commence from 10:00am adjacent to the Australian Maritime College on the River Tamar at Newnham 6/8 Pile.

Trophies will be presented from 11:30am at the North Esk Rowing Club function room. All competitors, supporters and alumni are invited to attend the presentations and socialise. Light food and refreshments will be available.

For catering purposes RSVP’s are essential.

The Vice-Chancellor's Challenge is part of a huge sporting weekend for the University of Tasmania with the finals of the inaugural Aon Uni Rugby 7s Series to take place at the University of Tasmania Stadium from 1:00pm. Why not head on over after the rowing to support the https://www.facebook.com/UTASRugby7s/

We hope you can make it!
