Event description
The VET Practitioner CPD Program continues with Session 2: Positive Behaviour Support

About this Event

Are you a Trainer and/or Assessor within the Disability Sector?

Then we invite you to join us at Session 2 of the VET Practitioner CPD Program

The VET Practitioner CPD Program has been co-designed by the disability and training sectors along with consumers to maximise the learning experience in a contemporary disability landscape. We are excited to invite you to our second session of the series:

Positive Behaviour Support (PBS)

Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) is a person-centred approach for providing behaviour support to individuals who present with challenging behaviour. PBS begins with comprehensive assessment and analysis, which seeks to understand why challenging behaviour occurs; this then inform the development of a data-based PBS plan. This multi-component plan details strategies relating to environmental modification, skill development and de-escalation techniques, with an emphasis on long-term outcomes for individuals and their families.

Dr Alinka Fisher from Flinders University will present a practical workshop to develop the skills of VET Practitioners. The purpose of this workshop is not to equip attendees with the skills to develop PBS plans, but to provide the means to train future Disability Support Workers to understand their role in the process of implementation.

Can't be there in person?

This session will be live-streamed and for those VET CPD Members, a recording will be made available if not able to participate on the day. Seats will be limited for non-members.

This is the second of a series of eight professional development sessions as part of the VET Practitioner CPD Program.
