Vernissage 2016 (Preview Event)
Event Information
Description
The 2016 ALETHEIA vernissage (preview event), is to be held at Green Vale Studio and Gallery, on Saturday the 2nd of April, 2016 at 7 for 7.30pm.
This exhibition focuses on a body of work produced as the creative component of an arts practice based doctoral research project through Central Queensland University, and in association with the Queensland museum. These resultant works are eclectic, highly experimental and many sit in the nexus of art, science and technology. Specifically, they have arisen in response to the topic:
Epistêmê, Technê & Poïesis: visualisations of evolution and extinction through Queensland Flora.
The associated research questions focus on the potential contributions of artistic research practice to scientific research practice and vice versa. The paleo-botanical holotype specimens within the Queensland Museum collection have been a focal point for this research. Recent visualisations using Australian Synchrotron radiation have provided new, unique renderings of extinct and extant botanical specimens.
The exhibition includes work in multiple media, including two and three dimensional prints, digital art, artists’ books and wearable art (jewellery). In addition, there will be a small retrospective of some of my signature colourful abstract works. Wim de Vos, of Studio West End, will curate the exhibition.
ALETHEIA will be opened by Dr Ashley Holmes, Principal Supervisor and Senior Lecturer in Digital Media at Central Queensland University.
Following the vernissage, the ALETHEIA exhibition will open to the public from Monday the 4th of April to Monday the 11th of April, 2016 from 11am to 4pm daily. Bookings are preferred and available through the Eventbrite link:https://www.eventbrite.com/e/aletheia-tickets-21696579052.
I look forward to seeing you soon, and sharing my research and this exciting new work with you.
Best wishes
