Description

This hands-on training is designed for professional users of Vectorworks, from beginner to advanced level. With dedicated modules for users of Vectorworks Fundamentals, Architect, Landmark & Spotlight, it will offer a good grounding for optimising your use of Vectorworks 2018. In order to get the most out of this training, it is strongly recommended that you have used Vectorworks, and have a basic familiarity with the software. We recommend that beginners have completed “The Basics” of the free Vectorworks Training Guides.

Computer literacy is essential.

DRAWING UP AN EVENT
The morning will be spent exploring the non-lighting tools in the Spotlight toolset, and as such no notes are supplied for this session. An exercise will be undertaken creating a room that explores the following tools:

• Create Event commands including Create Seating command
• Video Screen, Blended Screen tools
• LED and Television tools
• Speaker and Speaker Array tools
• Staging tools


Afternoon Session
Thursday 8th March (2:00pm - 5:00pm)

LIGHTING
Using the room we have drawn in the morning session, we will now add the lighting. In this session we will go through:

• Understanding the Label Legend Manager
• Spotlight preferences and managing the Object Info palette
• Using Hanging Positions and understanding Lighting Devices
• Managing multi-circuit, managing inventories; adding accessories to instruments
• Focussing Lighting Devices, shutter cuts, and drawn beams
• Calculating lighting levels using the Photometer
• Paperwork: Using and amending the built-in two-way database worksheets
• Lighting Symbol Maintenance command
• Instrument Summary tool – exploring its many uses
• Adding gobos and rendering

SITE MODELLING


Morning Session: Site Modelling
Friday 9th March (9:30am - 1:00pm)

We will spend the morning using the Vectorworks Landmark/Architect Site Model Object and explore the world of digital terrain modelling.

Where is the venue?

What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?

Car: There is no parking at this venue, though there are numerous parking stations nearby.

Train: The venue is a 2-minute walk from Wynward Station via York & Erskine Streets.

Bus: Numerous bus routes service the city.

Plan your public transport trip here, and please keep the CBD road closures in mind.


Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

You can bring a printed or mobile app ticket to the event. If you forget your ticket, you can just show your ID so we know who you are.


Is food provided?

Complimentary tea, coffee, and biscuits are available during tea breaks. There is a one hour lunch break between 1pm and 2pm, and there are numerous cafés and eateries near the venue to purchase food. You may also wish to bring your own lunch.


Do I need to bring a laptop?

No. Computers are provided for all attendees.


Can I update my registration information?

Yes.


Is my registration fee or ticket transferrable?

Please contact us prior to the event if you find yourself unable to attend and wishing to send a colleague instead. We will try to accommodate this for you.


Is it ok if the name on my ticket or registration doesn't match the person who attends?

No. Only the person named on the ticket may attend.


What's the refund policy?

You may cancel your registration up to 5 days prior to the commencement of your course, and still receive a full refund. Contact OzCAD directly to request a cancellation and refund. Refunds are issued via Eventbrite and may take 5 days to process.


Is there a Waitlist if tickets sell out?

If a ticket sells out, please email courses@ozcad.com.au to be added to the Waitlist.


Will I receive a certificate of completion at the end of the course?

If you would like to receive a certificate of completion, please contact OzCAD via email to request this once your course has finished.


As an architect, can I claim CPD points if I attend the course?

Yes. This training course meets the requirements as a formal CPD contributor for architects. Each hour of successful participation may contribute 1 formal point towards the AIA's CPD requirements in your state. Be sure to request your certificate of course completion via email at the end of your course.
