The shift to shared responsibility in emergency management is placing emphasis on the integration of emergency services, volunteers, business, community organisations and all levels of government to build resilience to emergencies and disasters. Utilising existing networks, establishing new partnerships and collaborating are key to this new emergency management approach.

Emergency services, local governments and community organisations are increasingly working together to deliver enhanced emergency planning, response, relief and recovery, and build resilience. The 2017 VCOSS-MAV Emergency Management Forum – Partnering for emergency planning – will showcase some recent initiatives that highlight the benefits of partnerships and collaboration.

Speakers include:

Kate Fitzgerald, Emergency Management Victoria: Resilient Recovery – enhancing recovery outcomes for communities to meet and adapt to the challenges of the future.

Gabriella Tange, Beechworth Health Service: Healthy and Resilient Together: Building the resilience of children, their families and their communities.

Frances Ford, Bendigo City Council: In an emergency, what’s your plan? Simplifying and personalising emergency preparedness for vulnerable people.

Stefanie Russell, CFA: Assisting aged care clients and patients to better prepare, plan and respond to the bushfire risk: The Fire Ready Carers Kit.

Lisa McLeod, Warrnambool City Council: CONNECT – an integrated online hub to build resilience through sharing information, ideas, and events and to provide opportunities to connect and communicate.

Julie Harris and Marty Braid, MFB: MFB's Residential Risk Referral Process: Helping at-risk people live safely in the community.

Plus other speakers to be announced.
