A panel of experts in the land management and biodiversity fields will guide you through the innovative approaches Victorian land management agencies are using in their day to day operations.

  • Provide interesting and unique examples to draw upon, to help you improve the quality of your student's exam responses.

Nick Jansen,

Parks Victoria, Acing Area Chief Ranger Northern Peninsula

Born in Tasmania. Nick studied Natural Environment Management at University of Tasmania. He then worked in Mt Field, Freycinet National Parks, moved to Fraser Island to work as a tour guide, then moved to Melbourne and started work with Parks Victoria.

Nick has worked as Parks Victoria’s Education Manager, Area Chief Ranger for Northern Peninsula and is currently Regional Manager Community Engagement and Partnerships for Melbourne Division.

Dr Marissa Parrott,

Zoos Victoria

Marissa Parrott is the Reproductive biologist for Zoos Victoria, working across Healesville Sanctuary, Werribee Open Range Zoo, Melbourne Zoo and a variety of field locations. Her role is to improve reintroduction and captive breeding success, and lead reproductive and behavioural research projects. Marissa brings with her more than 15 years’ experience in wildlife field work, five years working in molecular genetics laboratories and 12 years working on cap#ve breeding programs. She also has been involved in a variety of research and conservation programs across Australia, Asia, Africa and the Americas and her current role has a strong focus on endangered native marsupial, rodent and frog species to aid Zoos Victoria’s commitment that no Victorian terrestrial vertebrate species will go extinct.

Dr Doug Robinson – Trust for Nature

Doug Robinson is the Conservation Science Coordinator for Trust for Nature, a statutory conservation body focussed on the long-term protection and management of habitat on private land in Victoria. His key role is providing scientific oversight for the organisation’s strategic planning and its regional delivery programs, informed by the Trust’s Statewide Conservation Plan for Private Land in Victoria. Over the past 25 years he has worked on a number of conservation programs in Victoria, in particular working with landholders, partner organisations and community groups to implement conservation actions on private and public land. Most recently, he assisted with the preparation of the Victorian Government’s 20-year Biodiversity Plan, launched in April this year.

What must I bring into the event?

Please bring a pen, paper and internet enabled device.

Can I pay by invoice?

Yes. When you arrive at the online checkout you will have 2 payment method options

No need to print tickets, you can show us your online ticket

Yes, login to Eventbrite and change the details. If you are making changes close to the event please send us a quick email to alert us

Is my registration fee or ticket transferrable?

Yes, again just let us know so we can make sure we have the correct details on the day.
