For the Month of November we are exploring Collaborative Consumption in V Stars Mindfood series. Collaborative Consumption seems so fancy. Another way to think of it is sharing, with a transaction which benefits both parties and the planet.
Every day we buy new stuff, and yet so much goes to waste. Let’s make a dent in this, save money and connect to our community too.
How about using stuff, without ownership?
- If you wanted to buy locally grown fresh produce, where would you go?
- If you want to rent a drill, what then?
- If you wanted to use a car just a few hours a week?
- If you want to find holiday accommodation at any budget?
We'll be answering these questions and lot more from the leading Collaborative Consumption folks in Sydney.
You'll also receive $100 worth of Collaboration Consumption vouchers to start the change.
Local Fresh Food - Ooooby - Murat Keskin
Ooooby began in New Zealand six years ago as an online social network, building a community of local growers who traded gardening tips and recipes, seedlings and food. In 2011 it began facilitating the distribution of locally grown produce.
Household Goods - Open Shed - Lisa Fox
Lisa Fox first heard of Collaborative Consumption in December 2010 and just four years later she is regarded as a global Collaborative Consumption pioneer. She is the Co Founder and CEO of peer to peer online rental platform, Open Shed and a Global curator for www.collaborativeconsumption.com.
Lisa believes that by integrating the collaborative consumption movement into our lives we are creating a more connected and resource smart way of living.
Car Sharing - Car Next Door - Will Davies
Will Davies is the co-founder and CEO of Car Next Door, Australia's first neighbour-to-neighbour car sharing network. Car Next Door gives city dwellers who don’t own a car the opportunity to borrow one from friendly neighbors whose cars sit idle. In doing so, Will and his team advocate community and environmental consciousness. It’s more than neighbor-to- neighbor car sharing, it’s infectious magnanimity.
