Using Flight Data to win a Red Bull Air Race.
Peter Wezenbeek is Race Team Tactician in the Matt Hall Racing Team for the Red Bull Air Race World Championship. After a very successful 2015 season, finishing 2nd overall with 7 podiums and 2 race wins, the Team is now preparing for the 2016 season.
In this presentation, Peter provides some insight into the custom designed WINGMATE data recording analysis systems that are crucial to get the best out of the limited information available with very tight time constraints.
He will also talk about the dynamics of a typical Race weekend and the roles and responsibilities of the Race Team members.
Peter moved to Australia and started WINGMATE in 2007. The company develops electronic control systems and data recording units used in industrial, automotive, and aviation applications.
Previously, he contributed in numerous areas, like alternative fuels, hybrid and electric vehicles, and engine management systems for Rolls-Royce, Bentley.
Ultimately he worked at the pinnacle of motorsport, Formula 1. At the Renault F1 Team, Peter was responsible for the chassis control systems of Fernando Alonso’s car during all Races of the 2006 season, which resulted in winning the World Championship.
In 2014 he joined the Matt Hall Racing Team as Matt’s Race Team Tactician during the Red Bull Air Race World Championship, using WINGMATE hardware and analysis tools to optimise Race Track performance.
