Overview

This Board Approved Supervisor Training aims at providing an ACT framework to support and guide competency based supervision

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a mindfulness-based cognitive behaviour therapy focused on reducing suffering by building psychological flexibility. In 2016, Eric Morris and Linda Bilich-Eric introduced the SHAPE framework for supervision, an ACT-informed model that promotes psychological flexibility and competency-based learning within the supervisory relationship.

This masterclass equips supervisors with the knowledge and skills to apply the SHAPE framework effectively, creating safe, reflective, and empowering supervision spaces aligned with Psychology Board of Australia competencies.

Core objectives of this Masterclass include:

· Reflect current requirements of being a Board Approved Supervisor.

· Discuss current, supervisory practices, strengths and areas of weakness.

· Review ACT and Contextual Behavioural Sciences to ensure foundational theoretical knowledge is held by all participants.

· Discussion of the development of the SHAPE model to understand support for its efficacy in achieving competency-based supervision outcomes.

· Direct teaching and demonstration of the SHAPE mode.

· Participation in role plays to practice the use of the SHAPE model and solidify theoretical learning.

The training will count as 7 hours of PD and you will receive a certificate of attendance for your records. For those BAS wishing to count this Masterclass towards their ongoing supervisory status, an online quiz will be provided and must be completed.

No prior knowledge of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy is required to attend this session. Nor is their a requirement to be a Board Approved Supervisor, although this training is Board Approved Masterclass for BAS.
