Everyone involved in making products should be talking to users. Whether you’re a Designer, a Founder, a Product Manager, or an Engineer, you’re making decisions for users on a daily basis. Speaking to them directly is the best way to build the kind of empathy — and discover the most relevant information about their needs — that allows you to make the most effective decisions on their behalf.

But there’s an art to a good user interview. Without proper techniques, results can easily be biased — whether it’s by asking leading questions, getting the structure wrong, or even letting your enthusiasm for your own idea get in the way.

In User Interview Masterclass: How to talk to customers and get honest feedback, Product Designer and Research Consultant Nicola Rushton will dive deeply into key techniques to mastering the user interview. You’ll spend the morning in a fun, energised workshop, where you will learn the art of interview question theory. In the afternoon, Nicola will run structured user interviews in small teams so you can immediately practice what you’ve learned. Everyone will get a chance to run an interview and be interviewed!
